Can I Get A Witness?
A huge factor for the Court in determining the outcome of a Maryland family law case (whether it be a Maryland divorce case, Maryland child custody case and/or Maryland child support case) is having credible witness(es) to testify at your Court trial.
In many instances, accounts of what occurred between the parties in Maryland family law cases differ significantly.
Witnesses to event(s) may help a Maryland Circuit Court Judge or Maryland family law Magistrate deliver a sound determination of what is in the best interest of the child in a Maryland child custody case (for example). A family law witness should have firsthand knowledge of events that are relevant and material to the matter to be determined/decided by the trier of fact (the Court).
Family law witnesses may testify to events they have seen and/or heard. A credible and competent witness may testify to elements of adultery, best interest of a child factors (such as child abuse, child neglect, parental involvement, child visitation or child access refusal and denial), and other elements needed for proof/support your case and/or to refute allegations made by the opposing party in a Maryland family law case.
When you are involved in family law litigation, ensure the names (and other information requested about the witnesses) are provided in response to discovery and that the witnesses are available to testify (preferably in person, if possible) in your Maryland divorce or Maryland child custody case.
